Work
Note: This page is a work in progress. I’m trying re-create this page to showcase projects in a better way than just writing about them and linking to them. Should be ready soon. 🤞🏽
Being the owner of a boutique web development studio, I often have to wear multiple hats. The primary one among them is actively architecting, designing and developing web applications but I have to spend significant amounts of time in project management, coordinating with clients and collaborators, creating documentation for our products and processes, and testing the work done.
Most recent work updates:
I oversaw the development of and actively contributed to the code/design for a few Shopify apps under the Complete Apps brand that I co-founded with a couple of close friends. The first of those apps should be live on Shopify’s app store soon.
I designed, developed and created the content for the website for Complete Apps. Built using Ghost with a lot of tweaking in the theme’s code.
I worked on adding functionality to and developing the redesigned version of the homepage of one of India’s largest financial organisations. It’s currently unclear when this project will see the light of day but I will definitely talk about it more when it does.
I single-handedly architected, designed and am developing the website of a large real estate business in the Delhi NCR area. This project should go live in another month or so. It is being built on Craft CMS.
I created a minimalistic single-page website for Lucia Bell-Epstein, an acclaimed photographer and director based in New York City and Paris. Built using Eleventy.
Some of the projects I’ve worked on earlier that are/were in the public domain are listed below. They include projects that I’ve done under the Greythink Labs name as well as a part of the team at Miranj, a web design & development studio that I look up to and had joined from from 2019 to 2021.
Note: Web applications are often removed from the web once their purpose ends or the entity funding them shuts them down. Also, sometimes a change in an organisation’s team or decisions results in their web development partners and applications being replaced. In those cases, I have linked to archived or older versions of the projects and some features or pages might not work as expected.
The Stub the Stubble webapp, a dashboard to track stubble fires occurring on a daily basis in Punjab and Haryana, and its accompanying knowledge base. It was commissioned by Saroja Earth to spread awareness about stubble burning as they work on solving the air pollution crisis in North India. The project was built using Svelte and SvelteKit with the charts powered by D3. The code is publicly available on GitHub.
The Azim Premji University website. This was done as a part of Miranj’s team. I had worked on many of the core sections of the website and made improvements to the design and CMS data models based on client feedback all across the website. The project was built using Craft CMS.
The Guiding Tech website. This was done as a part of Miranj’s team. I had worked on the design and development of the Ebooks section. I also handled ongoing support and improvements efforts for the project. The project was built using Craft CMS.
The website for MBA4India, a foreign MBA admissions consultancy. Their earlier website looked as if it had been created in the nineties. I redesigned their website to give it a more modern feel. Over time, I have also helped them with other technical issues like email security, etc. This was a project where I had created the designs and developed the website single-handedly. It was built on top of WordPress using a custom-coded theme to reduce bloat and increase performance.
The websites for News Central 24x7, an erstwhile online news publication, and its Hindi division. This was a big project, encompassing massive amounts of content. We had designed and developed both the websites from scratch and maintained them for over two years. The websites managed to get more than 3 lakh hits per month during their peak. Unfortunately, the organisation shut down in 2021 and the website had to be removed. The websites were built using a heavily customised version of WordPress.
The previous version of the website for M. S. Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences. This was done as a part of Miranj’s team. This was a huge project with more than 10 sub-sites along with the main site, all of which had to be managed from a single control panel. I worked on the development of some of the most prominent sections of the site, carefully ensuring that any changes do not conflict with anything else on on any of the sub-sites. This project was also built using Craft CMS.
The business website of Phool Kumari Bakes, a home-bakery based out of Delhi. This was a very small website designed around their menu. We had created the design to be bright and vibrant, going with the personality of the brand. The business downscaled considerably in 2023 and their website was brought down in the process. The project was built using Webflow, a no-code website builder.
The previous version of the business website of Obvious, a mobile app focused product consultancy in Bangalore that counts India's biggest VC-funded startups among their clients. This was done as a part of Miranj’s team. I worked on many of the landing pages for the website and on the animations on their homepage. The project was built using Craft CMS.
The business website for Buuuk, a mobile app design consultancy in Singapore. This was done as a part of Miranj’s team. I was not involved in the design effort but made many additions to their website based on the existing design language and handled ongoing project maintenance. The project was built using Craft CMS.
My personal website where I blog about my life and work. It features a minimalist design and was created completely by me. It is highly performant (fast) and is optimised to be read by human users and Google's crawlers easily. It is built using Statamic.
I have worked on numerous web applications and prototypes since I started Greythink Labs in 2017. Unfortunately, a fair amount of the work I’ve done cannot be showcased here, falling in one of the following buckets:
The project is under an NDA where I’m not allowed to publicly showcase the project.
The project was built but never got released in the public domain because of a decision or circumstance at the client’s end.
The project was a tool meant for internal use in an organisation.
While this is normal for any web development business, I hope that I’ll one day be able to showcase some of that work in a way that does it justice without being unfair to any of the parties involved.
